Judging Day

After the entry deadline date, a preliminary judging panel will consider all entries and select up to ten Finalists for each category. If you are selected as a Finalist, you will be notified by email on Monday 21 August, by BCS brand team.

We then invite a max of two representatives from each entry (one for Personal Excellence and one representative being end user for Project Excellence) to attend a Judging Day on Friday 22 September.

Technology, Organisational and Project Excellence Finalists will be asked to give a short presentation of their entry to the judges. Personal Excellence Finalists will be interviewed by the Judges.

Please note, if you have been selected as a Finalist in more than one category, you will be required to present to each category judging panel.

Judging Day - FAQ's

What can we expect at the Judging Day?

A busy day! Over 50 judges will simultaneously judge each of the 25 categories throughout the day. You will be invited to give a short presentation of your entry or interview for Individual Excellence Finalists, to the panel.

The judges will convene at the end of the day to determine the overall Winner and Highly Commended in each category. The results will be announced at the awards dinner.

How many people can attend the Judging Day Presentation?

Technology Innovation/Organisation/Project Excellence - No more than two representatives per entry. (For Project Excellence one representative must be the end user)  For Personal Excellence - only the Individual Finalist can be interviewed.

Can I receive feedback from my Presentation?

Unfortunately it is not possible to provide feedback to finalists. The judges' decision is final. Please refer to our entry Terms and Conditions.

What are the judges looking for?

Each of the categories has defined criteria that entrants must answer. Just as in a job application the judges are looking for hard evidence that the entry has addressed the criteria.

Judges are NOT impressed with pages of marketing material. You should also aim to provide measures of success and quotes from customers and/or users. The key question to ask yourself is "can someone read this entry once and understand what we have achieved and why it deserves to win?" If the answer is no then re-work it.

How many judges will sit on each panel?

There will be up to three judges. A full list of the judges will be made available on the website before the judging. We are unable to advise of the names of the judges in your category in advance.

How long will my judging session last?

Judging slots will be allocated between 10.00am - 4.15pm on a first-come, first-serve basis. You have the option to select a morning/afternoon preference, which we will do our best to meet.

You will be issued a time slot a week in advance. Please arrive 20 minutes prior for registration.

If you intend to present by iPad or any other form of android device please ensure that your presentation/visual aid has been fully tested and you bring along the required connectors

Simply come along with your presentation ready loaded to a USB or your iPad. You will be given 5 minutes to prepare. Your presentation will be projected on to a large plasma screen. Personal Excellence Finalists - your session will be in the form of an interview and therefore, laptop/presentation facilities are not required.

Who am I up against?

A full list of category Finalists will be available on the Awards website on Monday 8 September. There are up to 10 finalists selected in each category. Each entry/individual will be judged separately throughout the day.
