The BCS and Computing are delighted to announce the launch of the newly formed UK IT Industry Awards, to be held at the Battersea Park Events Arena on 12 November 2009. This new venture merges the BCS IT Industry Awards and Computing Awards for Excellence and creates a platform for the entire IT profession to showcase and celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.
Combined reach
The UK IT Industry Awards combine the experience and resources of the UK’s leading IT media brand with those of the society for the UK IT profession. The Awards now form the showcase for the entire profession and will become the benchmark for excellence within IT.
All new categories
The 25 new awards categories combine the most popular prizes from their predecessors, ensuring that the awards will be the most relevant and sought-after among IT professionals and the organisations they work for. The categories focus on the achievement of excellence in projects, individuals, organisations and technologies, covering the widest possible range of the key constituents of a successful IT industry.
All new judging process
The new judging process combines the most rigorous elements of Computing Awards for Excellence and the BCS IT Industry Awards to ensure the benchmark for excellence is raised. This process also allows sponsors to be involved in the judging of the category they are sponsoring. A preliminary judging panel will consider all entries and select up to ten Finalists for each category. The Finalists in each category will be invited for an interview in front of a panel of judges. Following these sessions, the judges will select two Medallists and a Winner in each category.
About BCS
The British Computer Society (BCS) is the Chartered industry body for IT professionals, the Chartered Engineering Institution for Information Technology and a Chartered Science Institution. With our rapidly growing membership, BCS is playing an increasingly pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of world class standards for the IT profession through innovative products, services and support.
Through our specific “Professionalism in IT” programme, BCS is leading and building IT professionalism to levels which are currently only seen in more traditional long standing professions such as law, medicine, and accountancy but which will increasingly become the de facto standards for IT professionals.
